Warranty & Care

At FOCUS Jewellery, we believe fine jewellery should be made to be worn, loved and enjoyed for years to come.

That is why FOCUS jewellery is backed by our Lifetime Warranty against manufacturing defects.

For the purposes of this warranty, “Lifetime” means for as long as the original purchaser owns the jewellery.

Our Lifetime Warranty is provided in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) and does not limit, exclude or replace those rights.

Lifetime Manufacturing Warranty

FOCUS warrants eligible jewellery against defects in materials and workmanship for as long as the original purchaser owns the piece.

Our Lifetime Warranty applies to manufacturing defects that arise under normal and reasonable use.

Depending on the circumstances, covered issues may include:

  • Structural manufacturing defects in the setting or metalwork
  • Defects in clasps, links or components caused by faulty workmanship
  • Defective soldering or joins
  • Loose stones where the issue is determined to have resulted from a manufacturing or setting defect
  • Other faults in materials or workmanship attributable to the original manufacture of the jewellery

Each warranty claim will be assessed individually.

Where a manufacturing defect covered by this warranty is confirmed, FOCUS will provide an appropriate remedy, which may include repair or replacement, depending on the nature of the issue and the circumstances of the claim.

What Is Not Covered

Our Lifetime Warranty is designed to cover manufacturing defects.

It is not an unlimited insurance policy against accidental damage, normal wear or loss.

The FOCUS Lifetime Warranty does not generally cover:

  • Normal wear and tear
  • Scratches, dents and surface marks caused by everyday wear
  • Damage caused by accidental impact, dropping or crushing
  • Bent or misshapen rings, settings or metalwork caused by external force
  • Broken chains caused by pulling, snagging or excessive force
  • Gradual wear of prongs, settings, clasps or chain components
  • Damage caused by inappropriate cleaning or chemicals
  • Damage caused by chlorine, bleach or household cleaning products
  • Loss or theft of jewellery
  • Loss of a diamond or gemstone where the loss is not attributable to a manufacturing defect
  • Changes to polish, texture or surface finish resulting from normal wear
  • Natural wear of rhodium plating on white gold
  • Damage resulting from improper use or care
  • Damage to components that have been altered, repaired or resized by a third party where that work has contributed to, or prevents us from properly assessing, the issue

These exclusions apply only to the additional FOCUS Lifetime Warranty.

They do not limit any rights or remedies you may have under Australian Consumer Law.

Diamonds & Gemstones

Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds and are highly durable.

However, even a diamond must be held securely by a jewellery setting, and the metal surrounding the stone can experience wear or damage over time.

For this reason, a loose or missing diamond is not automatically considered a manufacturing defect.

If a diamond or gemstone becomes loose or is lost, FOCUS may inspect the jewellery to determine the likely cause.

Covered

If we determine that the stone became loose or was lost because of an original manufacturing or setting defect covered by our Lifetime Warranty, we will provide an appropriate remedy.

Not generally covered

Stone loss resulting from circumstances such as:

  • Impact or accidental damage
  • Bent or damaged prongs
  • Excessive wear
  • Crushing or external force
  • Failure to address a visibly loose or damaged setting
  • Damage unrelated to the original manufacture

is not generally covered by our voluntary Lifetime Warranty.

Repair or stone replacement may still be available as a paid service where appropriate.

Your rights under Australian Consumer Law remain unaffected.

White Gold & Rhodium Plating

White gold jewellery is commonly finished with a layer of rhodium plating to create its bright white appearance.

Rhodium plating naturally wears over time, particularly on jewellery worn frequently such as rings.

This is considered normal wear and tear rather than a manufacturing defect and is therefore not covered as a lifetime manufacturing fault.

Re-plating may be required periodically depending on:

  • How frequently the jewellery is worn
  • Skin chemistry
  • Lifestyle
  • Exposure to chemicals
  • Individual care habits

Resizing, Alterations & Third-Party Repairs

We recommend contacting FOCUS before having your jewellery repaired, resized or altered by another jeweller.

Work performed by a third party does not remove your statutory rights under Australian Consumer Law.

However, if third-party repair, modification or resizing causes damage to the jewellery, or makes it impossible for us to determine whether a problem resulted from the original manufacture, the affected issue may not be covered by the additional FOCUS Lifetime Warranty.

How to Make a Lifetime Warranty Claim

If you believe your jewellery has developed a manufacturing defect, please contact FOCUS Customer Care before returning the item.

Email: focusjewelleryau@gmail.com

Please provide:

  • Your full name
  • Your order number or proof of purchase
  • A description of the issue
  • Clear photographs and/or video showing the affected area where possible

We may ask you to return the jewellery to FOCUS for inspection.

Please do not send jewellery to us without first receiving return instructions.

Warranty Assessment

Once the jewellery is received, we will inspect the item and assess the likely cause of the issue.

If the issue is confirmed to be covered by the FOCUS Lifetime Warranty, we will arrange an appropriate remedy.

Depending on the circumstances, this may include:

Repair or replacement.

Where a claim is covered by our Lifetime Warranty, FOCUS will cover reasonable shipping costs associated with the approved warranty claim.

If an issue is not covered by our voluntary warranty, we may offer a repair or replacement service at an additional cost.

No chargeable repair work will be carried out without your approval.

Jewellery Care

Fine jewellery is made to be worn, but even precious metals and diamond settings require reasonable care.

Proper care helps protect both the appearance and structural integrity of your jewellery.

Everyday Wear

We recommend removing your jewellery before:

  • Exercising or playing sport
  • Heavy lifting
  • Manual work
  • Gardening
  • Cleaning
  • Swimming
  • Using chemicals or cleaning products
  • Activities that may place excessive pressure on the jewellery

For delicate chains and raised diamond settings, we also recommend removing jewellery before sleeping.

Chemicals & Cosmetics

Avoid unnecessary contact with:

  • Chlorine
  • Bleach
  • Household cleaners
  • Perfume
  • Hairspray
  • Lotions
  • Cosmetics

Where possible:

Apply skincare, perfume and cosmetics first, and put your jewellery on last.

Cleaning Your Jewellery

For gentle routine cleaning, we recommend:

Warm water + a small amount of mild soap + a soft jewellery brush or soft-bristled toothbrush.

Carefully clean around the diamond and setting.

Rinse thoroughly and dry using a soft, lint-free cloth.

Avoid abrasive cleaning products and harsh chemicals.

If you are unsure whether a particular cleaning method is suitable for your jewellery, please contact FOCUS before using it.

Check Your Jewellery Regularly

We recommend occasionally checking your jewellery for:

  • Loose stones
  • Movement in the setting
  • Worn or damaged prongs
  • Bent metalwork
  • Loose clasps
  • Damaged or stretched chain links

If you notice that a diamond or gemstone is moving:

Stop wearing the jewellery and contact us as soon as possible.

Continuing to wear jewellery with a loose setting may increase the risk of losing the stone.

Jewellery Storage

When you are not wearing your jewellery, store pieces separately in:

  • A jewellery box
  • A soft jewellery pouch
  • Individual jewellery compartments

Avoid allowing diamond jewellery to rub directly against other jewellery, as diamonds may scratch other gemstones or metal surfaces.

Chains should preferably be fastened and stored separately to help prevent tangling.
